In-Mall Activation, NSW, QLD & VIC

THE BRIEF

For QIC’s shopping centre portfolio across NSW, QLD and VIC, the brief was to create innovative in-mall activations that encouraged dwell time while delivering genuinely memorable school holiday experiences for both children and parents. The wider touring activation program focused on blending entertainment with discovery, creativity and learning, without losing the sense of fun and play.

THE CONCEPT

Botanical Buddies transformed the shopping centre into an immersive indoor garden experience, blending sensory play, science and discovery within a greenhouse-inspired environment. Designed as a self-guided journey, the activation encouraged children to explore how plants grow through touch, scent, sound and hands-on interaction.

THE EXPERIENCE

Guests entered through a vine-covered garden arch before moving through a series of interactive zones including soundscape walls, botanical aroma stations, tactile mystery boxes and playful discovery points inspired by gardening and plant life. A potting shed-style workshop completed the experience, where children received their own seeds to plant and nurture at home.

Designed to feel calming, tactile and exploratory, the activation invited children and parents alike to slow down, engage their senses and reconnect with nature within the retail environment.

THE OUTCOME

Botanical Buddies successfully toured shopping centres across the Eastern Seaboard, creating strong engagement with families and encouraging extended dwell time throughout the campaign period. Content captured during the activation performed beyond expectations, while the experience resonated not only with children, but with parents who enthusiastically engaged with the installation themselves.
